For one night only Space Delawab will be transformed into The Silent Picture House, inspired by The Gilford Picture House, one of the last known in Northern Ireland. The Gilford Picture House provided entertainment to the surrounding rural communities throughout the early 1900s screening all the greats from Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin to Cowboy and Indian movies. The advent of “talkies” in the 1920s and the associated running costs sent the Gilford Picture House, like many other small picture houses, into decline, finally closing it’s doors in 1931.

The Silent Picture House will be screen the first movie written and directed by and starring Charlie Chaplin - The Rink. In addition to the main feature, there will be a selection of short films by Charley Bowers, surrealist animator and comic pioneer of the silent era. This very special evening hopes to recreate some of the magic of those golden years of cinema with live piano accompaniment and special refreshments during the intermission.
